:At the time, I was making instrumentals a lot
I’m not really into that as much as I’m used to
basically, I like being inspired by other people
and it makes the process faster
So, I don’t make as many beats as I used to
but, I made this right before
I was in Atlanta, and on my way to Baltimore
to stay for…
I didn’t know how long I was going to stay
I was just gonna see how long I liked it.
I used Fruity Loops for it, I still love FL
I’m glad they made it for MAC now, which is great
On the way back from baltimore, Solo -Black Linen-
he wrote a verse for it, it was amazing
I didn’t want to record on it still bc
Once I make an instrumental I’m done with it
I feel like I did was I was supposed to do on it
I contributed as much as I could
But I got inspired at the last minute wrote the verse in like 20 seconds
very passionate i love it
On this instrumental, the one line that’s in it is
“Finally, they hear you say”
“Finally, finally they hear you say”
I said that because I finally-I’ve been making songs for a while...
for a while like, but they didn’t really touch me
I was like, rapping in high school...
I knew there was something else I needed to do so I could feel it
I needed something else..
And when I made this instrumental
It felt like, I found it, I caught it finally
It took- I was so happy like
finally I found it
And this was the start
for some great things to happen later.

Do you agree?
Tell me yours.
a rejuvenating, almost overwhelming scent that lifts your head and closes your eyes in bliss
a charming daffodil that is appreciative of you, too
ambition, forward movement
fine done twice for completion
just sounds so competent
how many words do we know where all of the letters are only used to describe what it is - full of- ?
Inspired by the recent piece by Junot Diaz entitled The Silence: The Legacy of Childhood Trauma please read it.
What makes a mask?
A thing that is created to hide behind
for various reasons
in history, both good and bad:
-To protect the face from sand
-To symbolize and honor a deity
-To protect the face in battle…
What are our typical modern day battles?
Needing to appear:
to have it together
beautifully capable & beautiful and capable]
What makes a person not actually appear
to have it together
beautifully capable & beautiful and capable?
Elements that pick away from the whole of a being,
anything that hurt.
A mask comes as one, no pieces to assemble. Much easier than finding the specific replacement pieces needed to fit into your original
It is an addition, unnatural baggage
Yet, possibly attractive to the passing person or quite honestly attractive to everyone on the other side of that mask who will never see what it actually covers
The mask is firm, stiff
but it is still.
But it also prevents the natural fluidity required to genuinely and deeply interact
it even blocks your 360 peripheral vision
you yourself won’t even catch everything.
Imagine how dry
& the type of difficulties that life can bring
when you’re blocked and then blinded to the things that are even causing your problems.
Masks appear and are used to stand over anything one feels the need to cover
From the worst traumas to the small, consistent nibbling ones that add up
If you’re wearing a mask
@ least be mindful
that you’re wearing one
and try to take it off sometimes
and care for Your You
before putting it back on
and stepping out into the world
gradual is better than nothing
One day you may reach for the mask and realize that
you’ve restored the face behind so much and
to cover that progress
is a bigger travesty than the small scars left from the initial wound.
we love u
you may quite possibly need to play this one backwards.
what I’ve gained from the Wrinkle in Time movie besides
was the reminder of how oppressive energy can really get to a person.
I remember reading a wrinkle in time as a yute
it creeped me out
so i barely remember anything about it much less did i read the sequels
I don’t even know if charles wallace is actually a bad guy
tbh I think he is
I don’t have time for new trust issues
This dark/light thing
the darkness is a real thing i guess
rick james verified it
the light is a real thing too.
Doesn’t it seem as if the world is more fixated with the dark though? Constantly attempting to pinpoint it, uncover it etc. etc.
Sure it’s scarier and makes things in the closet look weird,
but as a member of the collective consciousness, how about we pontificate/ excruciatingly status update/ sub-supertweet/ post a meme on IG with your own lil completely unheard of original commentary more about light?
I’m sure it can use more energy.
all from me today!
we love u.
Sorry for missing last week.
working hard for everything to make a bunch of sense and cents
Today I wanna talk about WOLVES.
I’m always talking about women and moons and things of that nature bc its so cool with such endless dialogue
today I also wanna talk about LONE WOLVES
There’s this book that I feel like every extraordinary woman will come across in their lifetime entitled Women Who Run With the Wolves.
It’s like I always see it on certain types of people’s bookshelves.
I myself have procured it at least twice and I feel like I’m always reading it
feels like a bible of sorts.
Some quotes that may give you an idea of its context:
The doors to the world of the wild Self are few but precious. If you have a deep scar, that is a door, if you have an old, old story, that is a door. If you love the sky and the water so much you almost cannot bear it, that is a door. If you yearn for a deeper life, a full life, a sane life, that is a door.
Asking the proper question is the central action of transformation- in fairy tales, in analysis, and in individuation. The key question causes germination of consciousness. The properly shaped question always emanates from an essential curiosity about what stands behind. Questions are the keys that cause the secret doors of the psyche to swing open.
In mythos and fairy tales, deities and other great spirits test the hearts of humans by showing up in various forms that disguise their divinity. They show up in robes, rags, silver sashes, or with muddy feet. They show up with skin dark as old wood, or in scales made of rose petal, as a frail child, as a lime-yellow old woman, as a man who cannot speak, or as an animal who can. The great powers are testing to see if humans have yet learned to recognize the greatness of soul in all its varying forms.
to be fair, i’m currently not even reading this book; I can’t form my brain around what I’m actually reading at the moment. But
I really really feel like I should be sharing this right now. My soul tells me to, so I am.
In honor of this book being so touching that I don’t even have to be reading it to be affected I want to share a once unavailable video of my addition to a Thundercat song (shouldn't I just call it a remix? of course not) entitled Lone Wolf and Cub:
it can share the words in my head at the moment a little better than what I can type right now
we love you
LIFE IS LIKE A FIGHT
but it’s okay.
a sophisticated battle is
pretty much one of my favorite things to watch and maybe even do with a lot of padding.
Thanks to hanging around dynamic adults all of my life, I’ve watched a healthy dose of kung fu flicks. As my mind progressed, I also began to realize the bigger spectrum involving karate'nem and why its participants are called martial artists.
With that being said, I would suggest you all read Bruce Lee’s book Tao of Jeet Kune Do; its like one of those books you should be proud to have on your book shelf.
So with all of this being said, I found an article on an MMA site that extracts 7 principles taught by the man himself. While I was reading it, I searched for any irony in its tone, like, Do they know this is kind of like a self-help article for life here? But no, it was an MMA website, and I think they’re just thinking about beating axs. Being who I am though, I read it a whole other way:
1. Drilling is the Best way to Improve
What do you want to excel in? Do it all the time. Be weird about it. I remember the first time I used a DAW (fruity loops)… I was like son…you gotta be a spaceship engineer to use this. I just watched a baby take her first two steps and eat it a month or so ago… now she knows that if you shoot one arm out you can speed up really fast and away from whoever is telling you to come back. Drilling helps you get better at things without even thinking about it.
2. Always Train With a Beginner’s Mind
What are you the best in? On your first day did you pretty much ignore everything about the instructions until it got to the part where you are the Unparalleled Master at it? No, you cared about everything involving it; it wasn’t a task, you drank it all in. You probably are full of small and random facts about this thing you are really good at. Staying inquisitive gives you access to all of those fine details that make you The Best.
3. Never Say Never
“If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.” - B.Lee
Your brain conceived a thing. That means it can exist. You may have a very slight to no idea of how you will accomplish this thing that your brain decided to walk in with, but here you are, and now you’ve got some work to do. And you got this. Plus, you'll do it again with something else.
There are four more principles that this article covers, feel free to check it out.
Meantime, make some art, be some art and if you have something to do, stop tripping and start. we love you.
i very literally create these playlists to listen to as i write each post. seems only right to share.
“ill tell you half the story, the rest you fill it in, long as the villain win…” -JZ
just saw black panther
Since I oftentimes root for the villain bc the hero is just so lamee,
I thought for sure that i'd be rooting for Killmonger.
and this is from the person who would've been kind of okay with Luke joining Daddy
spoiler alert; if you’ve at least read the comic keep going
but when the guy actually got what he wanted
he sat on the throne
it made me realize how weak a victory is that is borne out of hate, anger, negative feelings, etc.
it made me realize wholeheartedly that
whatever wins i get
i want out of love
I don’t want it on some “I'll show them” motivation
that just seems so weak!
It just makes you deep down on some butthurt stuff that you should resolve within yourself. It's childish.
Now granted, T’Challa was v annoying with his inner conflict issues compared to the Very Assured Monger; Monger may have easily seemed like the appealing choice.
But that’s because T’Challa had a lot to think about, basically…finding the grey
while KillMonger was good being White AF (The bad guys in Star Wars wore white okay stay with me).
so, who is the good guy?
you gotta figure it out
I’m sure life has taught us by now that every person we are told to listen to isn’t always the person we are supposed to listen to
but blindly following/becoming the villain is the simple way
there are blacks
there are whites
and there are greys
Grey doesn’t mean that you are in the middle and weakened…once you are assured of whatever position you choose, you will become empowered (remember T’Challa actually won the fight once he got his mind together and figured out a happy medium).
when deciding who are the actual villains in your life,
maybe think about whose actions actually originate from love.
I’m positive that that is a sure way to stay great.
Did you know that there are four main types of yoga, and it goes way beyond Hatha (the one we all know of, with the poses)? Many of them deal with the mind and other things.
Karma Yoga which focuses on service
Bhakti Yoga which focuses on love and devotion
Jnana Yoga which focuses on self-inquiry and introspection
and Raja Yoga, which focuses on mental control
Each person is advised to choose a path that speaks to their nature:
Karma for the selfless outgoing kind
Bhakti for the emotional ones who thrive on affairs of the heart
Jnana for the intellectual
Raja for those wishing to display king-like assurance and superior ruling of the mental state
All of it is interchangeable, like most effective principles, and i think it’s amazing. There are some easy Googles you can do to get a great gist of it.
sn: In your exploration you will most likely come across mention of The Bhagavad Gita. It’s pretty much the Hindu bible. If you read it, make sure that it has :: (as it is):: in its title.
Happy mind stretching!
flex on em.
I felt like i didn’t have anything to say today, so I decided to write about it.
My mind never stops (i mean does anyone's?) but sometimes, I know that there are things not to talk about at the moment.
Not because there are bad thoughts
but because they are still
brooks do babble while running over rocks
but there is no sound where the current stops
still waters run deep.
at this point, being in complete silence— sounds like an actual sound to us
and it feels kind of creepy right
You know how they (jokingly?) say that one day we’re gonna have to pay for air and water?
let’s not give up our silence
try right now to create a completely silent environment for yourself and see how hard it might be to achieve …
I do wanna say this though
We’re all so used to wanting, wishing
finessing to get it
once its right there close to you what do you do…
don’t tumble it
gather yourself up
and walk in your path
till next time
silently yours :)
heres that playlist
it definitely helped create this post
